The weekly timesheet

The My time β€Ί Week tab is the closing view. While the Today tab deals with one day, here you see the whole week as a grid: one row per project, one column per day, with each day's total at the bottom and the week's total on the right.

It's the screen for answering "where did my Thursday go" β€” and for fixing it before the month closes.

Typing straight into the cell

Click the cell where project and day cross and type the duration. If there was no hour there, a new one is created; if there was one, it's adjusted. The format is the same as manual entry: 1:30, 1h30, 90m or 1.5.

Two situations put the cell in read-only mode, and both for the same reason β€” the system doesn't guess what you meant:

  • The day has more than one entry on that project. Typing a new number would have to choose which of the two to change. Instead, click View entries and edit the right one.

  • There's a timer running on that day. The count hasn't closed yet, and overwriting it would erase work in progress.

The grid shows what already exists

The rows are the projects you've already tracked on that week. To bring in a new project β€” say Soap Factory approved a second workstream on Wednesday β€” record its first hour with the timer or on the Today tab. From then on it gets its own row in the week.

Moving between weeks

Use the arrows to go to the previous or next week, and the shortcut to jump back to the current one. The week you're viewing is part of the page address: sending the link to someone opens exactly the same week, and refreshing doesn't lose your place.

Where the week starts β€” Sunday, Monday or another day β€” is set under Workspace, and applies to everyone in that workspace.

Closing the week

If your account uses hour approval, this is where the week is submitted, through the Submit for approval button. A notice at the top tells you the period's state:

  • Awaiting approval β€” you've submitted it; to fix something, ask the approver to reject the period.

  • Changes requested β€” it was rejected with a reason. Fix the entries and submit again.

  • Approved β€” the period is closed and frozen, including for the person who approved it. Only reopening brings editing back.

Where to go next

  • Timer and manual entry β€” the two ways to create the entry.

  • Approving hours β€” the full flow of submission, approval and reopening.

  • Workspace settings β€” where the start of the week is set.

  • Reports β€” the same period, cross-cut by customer, person and tag.

In short: the Week tab shows project by day; type in the cell to create or adjust hours; cells with more than one entry or with a running timer open the detail instead of accepting typing; the week travels in the link; and this is where the period goes for approval.
