Creating and sending a survey, step by step

3 min read3

Creating a survey in WiseData NPS is done through a five-step wizard. You move step by step and, at any point, can save it as a draft (you only need a title and a type) and come back later. This article walks through every step until the survey goes live.

Step 1 β€” Type

Choose the survey type. They all follow the NPS model (the 0–10 score), but each is meant for a different goal: Relational, Transactional, Product, eNPS, Brand or Competition. If you are unsure which one to use, see the article Survey types: which one to use and when.

Step 2 β€” Setup

  • The survey title (required) and description (optional).

  • Main NPS question β€” the platform suggests a ready-made question based on the type you chose. Use it as is or rewrite it.

  • Follow-up questions (optional) β€” you can write a different question for each segment: promoters (score 9–10), passives (7–8) and detractors (0–6). It appears after the person picks a score, to capture the "why".

  • Anonymous responses β€” this option appears only for eNPS. When enabled, no name or email shows up in results, exports or charts.

Step 3 β€” Customization

Write the thank-you message the respondent sees after submitting their score. Next to it, a live preview shows how the survey will look, with the title, the question, the 0–10 scale and your message.

Step 4 β€” Channels

Choose how the survey is sent. There are three channels:

  • Email β€” set the email subject and select the contact lists that will receive it.

  • WhatsApp β€” the message template is selected automatically based on the survey type (these are Meta-approved templates). You also select the contact lists.

  • Website / Embed β€” embeds the survey as a widget on your site. You pick the display mode (popup, slide-in or inline) and copy the integration code (generated after the survey is saved). Embed has optional advanced rules, covered in the embed channel article.

Email and WhatsApp can be combined. Embed is exclusive: when chosen, it does not combine with the other channels. Embed is not available for eNPS or Competition.

Step 5 β€” Scheduling

For email and WhatsApp, set when the survey goes out:

  • Immediate β€” sent as soon as you activate.

  • Specific date β€” scheduled for a date and time.

  • Recurring β€” sent periodically (daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly), with a start date and an optional end date.

  • Continuous β€” automatically triggers for each new contact added to the linked lists.

When the survey is embed only, there is no scheduling: the widget starts collecting as soon as the code is on your site.

Still in this step you set the survey language (Portuguese, English or Spanish) and tick the data-consent confirmation β€” required to activate and recorded for auditing. Just below, a send preview estimates how many contacts will receive it and how many will be skipped (and why), plus a final survey summary.

Test and activate

Before activating, the survey must be saved. When there is an email or WhatsApp channel, you must send a test to yourself and check everything. With the test done and the data consent ticked, the Activate button puts the survey live.

Good to know

  • Email and WhatsApp sends count against your plan's monthly limit; embed has unlimited sends. You can track usage in the billing area.

  • You can duplicate an existing survey to reuse its setup.

  • A running survey can be edited, and a paused survey can be resumed.
