Contacts and lists: organize who will respond

3 min read4

Contacts in WiseData NPS are organized into lists. These lists are where email and WhatsApp surveys are sent β€” so keeping your contacts organized and valid is what ensures the survey reaches the right people.

Create a list

On the Contacts page, click New List and give it a name (for example, "VIP Customers"). You can have as many lists as you want and use one or several when sending a survey.

Add contacts

There are two ways:

  • One by one β€” click New Contact and enter the name (required), the email and the phone, choosing the target list.

  • By importing a file β€” use Import Contacts to bring in many at once (see below).

Import from a file (CSV)

The import happens in three steps:

  1. Upload file β€” choose the target list and upload a CSV, XLS or XLSX file (up to 5 MB). The first row must contain the column names, and the Name field is required. A template is available to download.

  2. Map columns β€” match each column in your file to the corresponding system field (Name, Email, Phone), checking the preview.

  3. Result β€” the import runs in the background and you receive an email when it finishes. The summary shows how many contacts were imported, how many were duplicates (skipped), how many disposable emails were rejected, and how many rows had errors.

Email and WhatsApp validation

Each contact with an email or phone goes through an automatic check in the background (meanwhile the status shows as "Validating" and updates within a few seconds). On the list screen, each contact shows a status badge:

  • Email β€” Valid, Invalid, Disposable (temporary), Catch-all (delivery not guaranteed), Bounce (returned an error), Spam (flagged by the recipient), Unknown or Pending.

  • WhatsApp β€” Verified, No WhatsApp, Invalid or Pending.

This matters because contacts with issues are automatically skipped when sending β€” you see that estimate in the send preview when activating the survey. Keeping your lists clean protects your account's delivery reputation.

Confirm an email manually

If an email shows up as invalid, disposable, bounce or spam but you are sure it is correct, you can confirm it manually. By doing so, you take responsibility for the send β€” so use it carefully, since sending to incorrect addresses harms delivery for your entire account.

Manage lists and contacts

  • Search contacts within a list by name, email or phone.

  • Edit or delete a contact.

  • Edit a list's name or delete it β€” note: deleting a list removes all of its contacts.
